A BRIEF PROFILE

Dr. Nityananda Pradhan, M.A., B. Ed., PGDDE, M.Phil., Ph.D (Education) is a Professor of Education and currently works North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE), NCERT, Umiam, Barapani, Dist. Ri Bhoi (Meghalaya). Earlier he served as Principal, Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Shyamla Hills, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh; Professor and Head, Department of Extension Education, North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE), NCERT, Umiam, Shillong; Reader and Head, Department of Education, Ravenshaw University, Cuttack; Deputy Director (Planning), State Institute of Educational Management and Training (SIEMAT), Orissa Primary Education Program Authority (OPEPA), Bhubaneswar; Reader and Head, Post-Graduate Department of Education, D.A.V College, Koraput, Govt. of Odisha; Teacher Educator, District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), Phulbani, Tikabali, Odisha; Project Officer, Area Intensive Education Project (AIEP) for Human Resource Development (UNICEF Assisted); Block Education Officer (Education Extension Officer) in Khajuripada and Phiringia Blocks of Phulbani District, Odisha; and Assistant Teacher under Govt. of Odisha (JD High School & Govt. High School Baliguda).
He has completed 28 research projects funded by State, National and International agencies, e.g. Planning Commission, New Delhi; Planning and Coordination Department, Government of Odisha; University Grants Commission (UGC); UNICEF; UNESCO, in diverse areas of adult education, school education and teacher education, e.g. Adult Literacy, Education of Scheduled Tribe Children, Environmental Education, Instructional Design. As many as 17 scholars have been awarded Ph. D degree in Education; 15 scholars have been awarded M. Phil. Degree in Education and Tribal Studies under his supervision.
He has developed a number of instructional materials for the teachers, academic leaders and teacher educators on Training Strategies, ICT-Pedagogy integration, action research, teaching of Social Sciences, constructivist pedagogy etc.; and has presented a number of papers in National and International seminars and conference in the areas of School Education, Teacher Education, ICT in Education, Instructional Design, and Environmental Education. He has published as many as 62 papers, including 27 research papers, in the journals and edited books of National and International repute.
Dr. Pradhan, being invited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) as a member of peer team, has visited to different Teacher Training Institutes of the country for assessment and accreditation.
Dr. Pradhan visited South Korea (Seoul), as officiating Joint Director of PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education, during October 2016 in connection with discussion on MoU between Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) and NCERT on five areas of Education, including Vocational Education, and made a presentation on “Establishment of Vocational Demonstration Multipurpose School (VDMS) at PSSCIVE, NCERT, Bhopal”. He has also visited Bangkok (Thailand) to attend 4th EAS TVET Providers’ Network Conference 2017 and KRIVET-UNEVOC-OVEC Capacity Building Workshop (November 27-30, 2017); and made a presentation on the theme, “Integrating Green Skills in Teacher Development Program: A Collaborative Institutional Approach”. He took part in the Global HR Forum 2018 from November 6 -7, 2018; and attended 2018 Global Human Resources (HR) - East Asia Pacific (EAP) Workshop: “Entrepreneurship through TVET in the 4th Industrial Revolution”, jointly organized by Ministry of Education in Korea and Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET), at Seoul, Korea on November 8-9, 2018.
