A Ph.D. in Education, Dr. Subhas Chandra Roy taught in the Post-Graduate Department of Education, Patna University for nearly a decade before joining as Reader in Life Sciences and Primary Education at NERIE, NCERT, Shillong in the year 2006. He has also worked with UNICEF as Consultant to help assist the implementation of the Para Teacher Programme in the state of Bihar.. Dr Roy is having more than twenty years of experience of teaching, research and programme implementation including exposure to over fifty workshops/seminars/conferences of regional, national and international levels. He was a part of NCERT team which had undergone Training in Advanced Researches in Programme Evaluation” . He has visited University of London, Cambridge University and NFER, UK; University of Ottawa, Western Michigan University and University of California, Los Angeles (USA) for advanced training in Programme Evaluation.

There are two books to his credit namely Prathmic Kaksha Ke Sandharbhasha and Teaching Quality Improvement: A Classroom Observation Based Approach. Some of the books that he edited are: (1) Prerna- 10 Days Trainers Training Module (First Edition-2002), (2) Prerna- 10 Days Trainers Training Module (Second Edition), (3) Prerna- 30 Days PSM Training Module (First Edition-2002), (4)Prerna- 30 Days PSM Training Module (Second Edition), (5) Prernaâ- PSM Handouts (2002), and (6) Meri Kitab PSM Training Support Material (2004).

Dr Roy has also 17 research papers/articles to his credit which have been published in several Journals/Magazines/ SOUVENIR. He has also got four of his poems published - three in the Magazine SAMPARK, DIET, Ratu, Ranchi, and one in INJOT,BEP,Ranchi. He has completed five national level research projects and has been associated with development of several materials in the field of education both at state and national levels. He has been associated with Bihar Education Project for a long time.

Dr. Roy has been associated with several Committees/Commissions constituted by the Government. Some of the important committee in which Dr. Subhas Chandra Roy has been associated with are: (a) Member- State Education Reform Committee (Expert Committee) constituted by Govt. of Bihar (Vide Resolution No.314 dated 15.2.2006) (b) Educationist Member - Project High School Committee constituted by Government of Bihar (c) Member, National Resource Group (NRG)  of SSA, and (d) Member, State Resource Group (SRG) of SSA, BEP, Patna, Bihar
